The problem starts when a user notices the Orbi device’s (either the router or its satellites) white light flashing.
The gadget is no longer functional and loses its networking abilities in this condition. Nearly every model in the Orbi family has the problem, according to reports. After updating the Orbi’s firmware or when doing a factory reset, many customers experienced the problem. Start the Orbi Router and Satellites Off Cold
A brief error in the firmware of the Orbi device may be the cause of the orbi flashing white light, and performing a cold restart of the Orbi router and satellites may fix the issue. But first, make sure the Orbi gadget is connected to the appropriate power source. Whether only one satellite is having problems, see if switching to that satellite’s power source fixes the issue.
- Turn off the satellites and Orbi router. Make sure to turn off any additional modems or routers if you’re utilising them.
- All of the gadgets should now be unplugged from their power sources, and you should leave them in this state overnight.
- After that, reconnect all of the cables and turn on the router.
- Once the router’s power LED begins to blink amberly, push the Reset button on the router.
- After that, release the Reset button and leave the router running normally for an hour (preferably, all day).

Whether the problem just affects one satellite, see if resyncing the satellite solves the issue. You might need to attempt this twice or three times. Reset Orbi Devices to Factory Settings and Manually Update Firmware
You might have the Orbi flashing white light issue if the firmware of the Orbi device became corrupted as a result of an upgrade or a prior attempt at a factory reset. In this situation, executing a factory reset on the Orbi gadget might help.
- Bring the laptop or modem close to the Orbi router and its satellites.
- Now turn off the satellites and router.
- After that, turn on the Orbi router and disconnect the ethernet cable.
- After waiting for 5 minutes, push the router’s reset button for at least a minute.
- Once the router begins to blink amber, continue to hold down the reset button.
- Reset button released, wait at least five minutes.
- Reset the satellites to their factory default settings during the aforementioned five minutes.
- Connect the ethernet connection from the host network to the WAN port of the Orbi router once the five minutes have passed.
- Now, on the laptop, open a web browser and navigate to the Orbi router’s web portal by typically doing the following

- Then proceed with setting up the devices in accordance with your needs, and if prompted, cancel the firmware upgrade. The Firmware Update tab may need you to cancel the firmware upgrade.
- Extract the most recent firmware on the system desktop after downloading it from the Netgear website.
- Next, navigate to the following location in the Orbi’s Web UI:
Manual Update > Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update.
- Click Upgrade after finding the update on your desktop.
- Once the upgrade is finished, check to see if the white light on the Orbi is no longer flashing. To re-sync the satellites with the router, you might need to hit the Sync button on the satellites.
Whether that didn’t work and you’re using a different modem with the Netgear router, see if the Orbi issue can be resolved by assigning the Netgear router a static IP address and adding that address to the modem’s DMZ (strictly not advised).
